How to switch carriers and keep your number

A short checklist for porting without losing service.

Before you start

Do not cancel your old service first. Porting your number automatically closes the old line at the right moment.

Collect your account number and transfer PIN from your current carrier, and make sure your handset is unlocked.

During the switch

Activate the new eSIM or SIM and start the port request with your existing number and details exactly as your old carrier holds them.

Ports usually complete in minutes and legally must complete within one business day for wireless numbers.

This guide is general information, not advice about a specific account. Always check current terms on the carrier’s own website before signing up.
